What are photovoltaic modules?
A "PV module" (commonly called "solar panel") is a device that is able to directly convert sunlight into electricity through photovoltaic effect.
The photovoltaic modules, unlike solar thermal modules (used for the production of hot water), are used only for plants producing electricity.
The photovoltaic modules, assembled in various forms, have a heart shaped of silicon unit cells, which adversely affected by sunlight generate a small voltage. To obtain high voltages must then connect several elementary solar cells by combining series and parallel connection type, to obtain a form or standard panel.
More photovoltaic modules connected together in series, creating a "string photovoltaic". In turn, several strings of photovoltaic modules connected together to create "solar field" (or "photovoltaic generator"). The amount of electricity produced by the generator depends proportionally on the amount of solar radiation that is collected by the photovoltaic modules.
